The McMaster Marauders in conjunction with the Hamilton Wrestling Club seek an experienced, highly qualified and motivated leader to direct their wrestling programs. The ideal candidate is committed to leading the program to provincial and national prominence and focused upon the student-athlete experience, and recruitment and retention of the top student athletes and to develop Hamilton Club athletes for national and international level of play in all age groups.

This position is responsible for all coaching elements associated with the sport program. Reporting to the Associate Director, the incumbent is responsible for the overall direction, planning, recruitment, team selection, player development, technical & tactical preparation. In collaboration with the Associate Director, the incumbent will design and implement a comprehensive sport development plan conducive to positioning McMaster men’s and women’s wrestling at the top of OUA and U SPORTS competition. As the Hamilton Wrestling club head coach, you will report to the H.W.C Board of Directors and be responsible for the training, preparation, and development of club athletes both in training and competition settings.  Fundraising for both programs will be critical to the success of this position, and may include Holiday and summer camp opportunities. Between the two organizations there will be an expectation of full time hours by the successful candidate. 
 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A university degree is preferred.
• Be an excellent communicator with strong teaching and technical wrestling skills
• Outstanding character, integrity, passion and a commitment to excellence
• Be knowledgeable in the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological elements of wrestling.
• An understanding of the intended delivery model of the wrestling program within McMaster Athletics
• Recruiting and/or other relevant training or teaching related to sport (asset)
• Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

• University level (U SPORT) coaching experience and competitive experience at the national/international level are required.

  • Through the National Coaching Certification Program, the candidate must be actively pursuing completion of the Competition – High Performance stream.
  • Valid and current police check.
