  • All Athletes must be registered members of the OAWA by the time the Club pre-registers them.
  • You must pre-register using the Google Docs form available on the OAWA web site. Pre-register before 5:00 pm on Monday January 28, 2019.
  • Coaches must complete the on-line Coaches' registration form before 5:00 pm on Monday January 28, 2019

Please check the confirmation entry list be posted on the OAWA web site (www.oawa.ca) by Wednesday January 30, 2019 Coaches may cancel athletes registered for the event until Thursday January 31st   at 4:00 pm

Athletes scratched after January 31, 2019  will cost $20.00 each.

Athletes may register on Friday prior to weigh-ins, but will be charged a $20.00 late fee.

 Draw Information

Weight Classes

Male Cadet – 38, 42, 46, 50, 54, 58, 63, 66, 69, 72, 76, 80, 85, 92, 100, 115, 130 kg.

Female Cadet – 38, 40, 43, 46,49,52,56, 60, 65, 70, 75, 82, 90 kg.

(note national championship weights are different – please check)

Male Juvenile – 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 65, 70, 76, 80, 85, 92, 98 120 kg.

Female Juvenile  40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 69, 74, 79, 84, 90 kg.

Notes: Super Heavy Classes may be added if demand is sufficient, but are not eligible to compete at National Championships.  Please contact OAWA in advance to see if this can be done.

Wrestlers will be grouped into (maximum) 32 wrestler brackets.  If there are more than 32 in a weight class, the class will be split and two champions will be declared.  There will be no challenges.

NEW:  Categories with 4 or 5 competitors will compete in a bracket to allow for a true final.  Categories with 3 competitors will use a round-robin draw.

As per Wrestling Canada rules, athletes may not enter more than one age class or weight class.

Other Rules: ALL WRESTLERS MUST WRESTLE IN RED OR BLUE SINGLET.  (no exceptions) Standard WCL rules (including age class modifications) will be used.

OTHER INFORMATION

IMPORTANT:  Only those coaches who are NCCP Competition/Introduction ‘In Training’ may coach in the corner as per the OAWA guidelines.  To be considered ‘In Training’, the coach must have completed at least the Competition/Introduction A Workshop by the time of the event.

Mis-use of the pass, including passing it on to a non-certified coach, will result in the pass being revoked.  Coaches who do not meet the criteria or have their passes revoked must remain in the spectator area.

All coaches meeting the criteria will be issued a wrist band.  The coach will show the wrist band to the mat officials prior to the start of the match.  Non-accredited coaches will be required to leave the corner.  Coaches will have 1 minute to comply or their athlete will forfeit the match

A fully qualified medical team will be available throughout the competition for your athletes’ needs.  This service is part of your event entry fee, but you and/or your athlete are responsible for paying for or supplying any supplies used (tape, etc.).

Coaches are reminded that they are responsible for the action of their athletes.  Security infractions, including attempts to damage the facility, will be dealt with harshly and through the authorities.  You and your athletes are guests of the Matmen Wrestling club in the venue and are expected to behave accordingly.  Disciplinary problems will be dealt with according to the O.A.W.A.’s Code of Conduct for members. 

Clubs are reminded that this event is a training event for Provincial level Pairingmasters.  Clubs interested in having their members attend the Provincial Pairingmasters’ clinic should contact the O.A.W.A.. Accommodations are provided for all those pairingmasters attending.

For this event, the O.A.W.A. Policy on Infectious Skin Conditions (1996) and Weight Loss Policy (1998) will be followed without exception.  Contact the O.A.W.A. for more information

The O.A.W.A. Policy on Weight Loss will be adhered to at this competition.  Coaches are advised to be aware of and make their athletes aware of this policy.  The Policy is on the O.A.W.A. Web-site, or copies of the Policy can be provided to anyone requesting it.  Contact the O.A.W.A. for more details.

Clubs will weigh-in by club/team.  Each Club will be assigned to a scale and will have 1 hour from the time they start weigh-ins to complete weigh-ins or until 6:00 pm, whichever is earlier.

Friday Evening:  The draw will be posted at Trackwrestling.com

Please check for errors and report them Saturday morning by 7:30 am.
