Discipline File 2425-006
Complainant: Mr. Steven Takahashi
Respondent: Mr. Laszlo Adamko
Overview of the Complaint:
OAWA received this complaint through the Wrestling Canada Lutte (WCL) Independent Third Party (ITP). The WCL took in the initial complaint, reviewed it, and their ITP determined that the complaint fell under the jurisdiction of the Ontario Amateur Wrestling Association as both parties to the complaint were OAWA members.
Mr. Takahashi’s complaint against Mr. Adamko is ‘for ongoing harassment, violations of the Wrestling Canada Code of Conduct, and retaliatory actions against’ him. This was taken as a complaint under the OAWA’s Safe Sport and Code of Conduct Policies.
As part of the complaint, the OAWA was provided with numerous e-mails to or about Mr. Takahashi written by Mr. Adamko.
Discipline Panel’s Findings:
From a Review of the material relating, the Panel finds that Mr. Laszlo Adamko has violated the OAWA’s Safe Sport/Code of Conduct Policy.
The Panel found that Mr. Adamko wrote numerous emails to Mr. Takahashi, representatives of his employer, and others making multiple unfounded accusations against him.
These accusations included accusing Mr. Takahashi of being a ‘Minor Abuser’ a ‘Liar’, an ‘Abusive Coach’ and other accusations with no proof.
As a result of the many emails circulated with these unfounded accusations, Mr. Adamko’s actions represent Harassment against Mr. Takahashi.
Mr. Adamko’s response to the Complaint, was essentially a justification of his actions. He did not refute or deny the allegations in the Complaint.
Penalty:
The following was agreed by the Panel:
- Mr. Adamko is directed to avoid all communication directly with Mr. Takahashi. He is also directed not to correspond directly with others about Mr. Takahashi.
- In future, Mr. Adamko is to ensure that all contact with OAWA members will adhere to the OAWA Safe Sport and Code of Conduct Guidelines.
- Mr. Adamko is suspended as an active member of the OAWA for a period of three months. Final suspension date is to be determined once notice of this decision is provided to Mr. Adamko, and once the Appeal window as noted in the OAWA Discipline and Complaints Policy has passed.
This Finding and the suspension against Mr. Adamko are effective May 11, 2025 and notification has been provided to him.
