Men's Germany Development Training Trip
The Ontario Amateur Wrestling Association (OAWA) is excited to announce plans for an upcoming Men’s Development training trip to Freiburg, Germany this November. This is a unique opportunity for our top male athletes to train with a high-level German wrestling club, gain international experience, and build connections with one of Germany's strongest wrestling programs.
The host club, led by a Regional Head Coach with the German National Program, has placed eight athletes on German World Teams this year, with several earning medals at the European and World Championships. Training will take place at the prestigious Olympiastützpunkt Freiburg-Schwarzwald (National Training Center), offering athletes access to the top wrestling center in Germany.
We are also exploring opportunities for joint sessions with clubs that may travel to Freiburg, as well as the possibility of traveling to France or Switzerland to visit other clubs and further enhance the international training experience.
While exact dates and details are still being finalized, we are beginning to gauge interest from athletes and coaches to secure the best arrangements and ensure this trip offers maximum training opportunities.
Dates: Flexible within November (exact dates TBD).
Current on Mat Training Schedule at Olympiastützpunkt Freiburg-Schwarzwald:
Monday: 17:45
Tuesday: 19:00
Wednesday: 10:00 / 16:30
Thursday: 18:00
Friday: 14:00 / 19:30
We have the ability to add more sessions as needed. This schedule may also change based on the high probability of a joint training day with a neighboring club in another country.
Special Event: On Saturday night, we are invited to attend the Bundesliga match featuring the home team, RKG Freiburg 2000, an exciting opportunity to watch world-class wrestling in a team dual format.
