WOMEN'S TEAM: Heros Lady Open & Euro Camp (Poland)
The Ontario Amateur Wrestling Association (OAWA) is currently exploring and planning to send a targeted group of Ontario’s top female wrestlers to Poland to compete in the 2026 Heros Lady Open, followed by the International Euro Camp.
We are seeking expressions of interest from athletes and coaches as we work to finalize the travelling team, coaching staff, flights, and overall trip logistics.
The Heros Lady Open is an all-female international wrestling tournament that regularly attracts 350–400 female wrestlers from approximately 20 countries.
International Euro Camp: Past camps have attracted approximately 100-140 female wrestlers, providing a chance to gain international training following the tournament.
Age Groups for Competition:
Senior / U20 - Combined Division: Born 2009 or earlier (17+)
While the tournament is open to athletes born in 2009 or earlier, preference for the OAWA travelling team will be given to athletes born in 2007 or earlier (19+).
Weight Classes: 50, 53, 55, 57, 59, 62, 65, 68, 72, 76 kg
The Senior and U20 age groups compete together. Based on past results, this division has featured a good mix of Senior and U20 athletes.
U17: Born 2010-2012
Weight Classes: 40, 43, 46, 49, 53, 57, 61, 65, 69, 73 kg
While the U17 division is open to athletes born from 2010–2012, preference for the OAWA travelling team will be given to athletes born in 2010–2011.
Tournament Format:
6 athletes or fewer: Nordic / round-robin format
7 or more athletes: Double-elimination format
Tentative Schedule:
Dec. 1 or 2: Depart Toronto (final date based on flight availability and coaching staff)
Dec. 2 or 3: Arrive in Poland; team accommodation and acclimatization
Dec. 4: Arrival at tournament venue and official weigh-in
Dec. 5-6: Heros Lady Open - Wałbrzych, Poland
Dec. 7-9: International Euro Camp - Boguszów-Gorce, Poland
Dec. 10: Tentative return to Canada
TOURNAMENT + INTERNATIONAL TRAINING CAMP
Costs and Inclusions:
Estimated Cost: $2,500 CAD per athlete
Expected to include: round-trip airfare, team accommodation in Warsaw on the first night following arrival, official tournament and camp accommodation, tournament entry fee, Euro Camp participation, team ground transportation, OAWA coaching staff, and approximately 80% of meals.
The official tournament and camp accommodation package includes full board (accommodation = 3 meals Daily). Athletes should plan to cover some meals on international travel days and during the initial arrival period in Warsaw.
Targeted High Performance/OHPSI athletes may also be eligible for additional program support.
Final athlete pricing and inclusions will be confirmed once the travelling team, airfare and final logistics are secured.

International Euro Camp:
Dates: December 7-11, 2026
Location: Boguszów-Gorce, Poland
The Euro Camp begins immediately following the Heros Lady Open. It provides participating athletes with several days of organized international training alongside female wrestlers from multiple countries. Past camps have included approximately 100-140 female wrestlers. The OAWA group is tentatively scheduled to participate in three days (Dec. 7–9).
Selection and Applications:
OAWA intends to send female athletes whose participation aligns with the objectives of Ontario’s high-performance pathway. Priority will be given to athletes based on national and international competitive results, current performance level, training commitment, and alignment with OAWA’s high-performance pathway.
Final selections will be made by the OAWA High Performance Manager in consultation with each athlete’s personal coach and, where appropriate, the OAWA High Performance Committee. Submitting an Expression of Interest does not guarantee selection.
Coaching Staff: OAWA plans to send a minimum of two coaches, with additional coaching staff considered based on the final team size, athlete ages, and Safe Sport requirements.
