Mentor College HS Invitational (Open Boys/Girls and Rookie Boys Divisions)

(No Elementary Students Allowed)    

Date: Thursday November 14th, 2019

Wrestling will start at 8:30 AM. Please be at the school no later than 7:45 AM to get a parking space, confirm your entries, check the draw, participate in random weigh-ins, and to warm up.

Location:       Mentor College

                       40 Forest Ave.

         Mississauga (Port Credit), Ontario

  

Directions: Take Hurontario south of the QEW, travel under the railroad tracks, and turn left on Park Street. Make a quick right on Rosewood Ave then another quick left on Forest Ave. Travel three blocks on Forest Ave. and the school will be on your left-hand side.

Divisions: Open Boys – Open Girls – Rookie Boys. OFSAA Rules.

(Rookie wrestlers must not have wrestled in a previous tournament and be in either grade 9 or 10)


Weigh-Ins: At your own school by 4pm on Monday, November 11th, 2019.  E-mail entries only using the spread sheet that will be sent out to the schools that confirm their attendance in advance. There will be no cap on entries but only the top 12 team placings for each division will be used to determine championship plaques. Entries must be received no later than 4:00 PM. We will be using the OFSAA weights for the Open Boys and Open Girls divisions but please send the exact weights of your rookie boys in kg as the divisions will be made up according to the entries. NO ADDITIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE ENTRY DEADLINE. NO EXCEPTIONS. NO SUBSTITUTIONS OF WRESTLERS WILL BE PERMITTED. 


Random weight-checks will be done the morning of the tournament. A “Red Dot” system will be used with each wrestler being given a 1kg allowance.  If your wrestler is close at the time of weigh-in, please have him/her wrestle up. If an athlete does not make the weight entered (with allowance) on Thursday, he/she will be taken out of the tournament (not moved up). Draw sheets will not be altered the morning of the tournament.

 

Entry Fee:$18. 00 per wrestler: Cheques payable to Mentor College. You must pay for scratches on the day of the meet. No charge for scratches that are e-mailed by 12pm on Wednesday, Nov 13th.  All scratches will be treated as byesSchool cheque, personal cheque or cash is due before your wrestlers take the mat to warm-up. 

Amenities: 4 mat surfaces, change rooms with showers, and concession stand.  Coaches’ room with light breakfast and lunch will be provided. Wrestling boots and gear will also be on sale by Aktion Sports.

Awards: Individual medals for top three finishers in each weight category. Team plaques for overall boys, overall girls, and overall combined. Skin Checks: Will be done by the referees during the first round.

Note: Coaches please re-send me your approximate numbers by Friday Nov. 1st, 2019 at the latest. The tournament will be capped at 325 competitors. The first schools to send in their numbers will be given priority acceptance.  No entries will be accepted from teams that have not sent approximate numbers in advance. You may not enter more than your advance number without prior approval of convener.
